MEANING & CONTEXT
What does Geetanjali mean?
Geetanjali joins gita, “song”, and anjali, an offering made with cupped hands. Anjali also names the joined-hand gesture of reverence, giving the compound a devotional image. Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali is a collection of poems whose title made this song-offering image widely known.
