MEANING & CONTEXT
What does Jagadish mean?
Jagadīśa joins jagat, world, and īśa, lord; the consonant at the compound boundary changes according to Sanskrit sound rules. Jagat changes its final consonant before īśa in Sanskrit sandhi. As a Vishnu title, Jagadish presents the preserver deity as sovereign over the world.
