What does Lakshman mean?
Lakṣmaṇa is Rama's brother in the Ramayana and belongs to the lakṣman family referring to a mark or distinguishing sign. Lakhan is a familiar vernacular form of the same epic name. His mother is Sumitra and his wife is Urmila in the Ramayana.
