MEANING & CONTEXT
What does Vams mean?
Sanskrit vamsha denotes both bamboo and a family lineage. The image of successive joints in a bamboo stem helps explain the extended idea of generations following one another. A flute made from bamboo is another recorded sense of the Sanskrit word.
