Word history

Wiktionary derives the Gujarati surname પારેખ from Sanskrit parīkṣaka and distinguishes the related form parīkh. Monier-Williams records parīkṣaka as an examiner or judge, supplying the literal sense of the older word. The Gujarati form reduces the older consonant sequence. Parekh and Parikh preserve different vowels in Latin spelling. The lexical history explains a word for examination, without assigning a profession to any individual.
